That's Entertainment.
I have been logging onto #Earthbound for quite a long time. I keep on going back hoping something interesting happens, and it never does. Never the less, I'm always entertained.
May it be the Goc raids, or the stupid little "I r l33t," (he pronounced elite as l33t! Clever!) I always manage to keep myself a happy ctoner. I only chat 1/9th of the time I'm on. And that 1/9th, is when someone with high social status (ex- Reidman), logs on. Why? #earthbounders stop doing the "I r l33t!" thing, and try to hold up decent conversations. And why is that? THE REIDMAN has entered. This is one of the many reasons I'm entertained. Little Streaks trying' to get a piece of the star. Tomato accepts applicants into SM.NET all the time, but I doubt the person actually cares about his job. He just cares about entering #smnet, and saying "I r l33t" (Get It? L33t?)
And this seriously affects Tomato's job. He now has to work through the 40 and a billion insincere emails. For the same reason, Starmen.Net won't be updated for days. Which brings me to my next point.
The "Community" isn't dead. It is very much alive. Certain people don't respond. But this doesn't make something "dead," just cold-blooded. This in turn forces people to complain, and moan, and retire early. Literally, people who post once in a blue moon, almost certainly have a faster retiring rate then of those who actually decided to stick around. It’s not a matter of "leaving." Its a matter of "I want to be a part of the star," theory I brought up earlier.
But this provides a fraction of why Starmen.Net would be considered an amphibian. I figured it out a long time ago, but I didn't bother to tell anyone. Lazy Staffers! Tomato cracked it, and *gasp* SM.Net is warm-blooded again! It is a mammal! He started to lynch, and now the "good ol' days are back!" Woo!
What a great community. Blood was shed, as well as domains. People quit, and newbies joined. Forums grew rowdy, and #earthbound grew stale. But then it was fresh like a peach, and God looked at his work, and he giggled. Ya See? Even God has a sense of humor.
