A Meeting of Importance
Greetings, my friends. A few nights ago, a meeting took place in #earthbound. All of the heralded celebrities were there. Reid and EBounding were there. Giovanni even showed up for the activities. This meeting was held to address the future of this site and community. There is a few things that I would like to address in this article. If you are bored, or just sleep deprived, enjoy.
The first thing that was discussed (ignoring random insanity) was the trip to E3. Not much happened here, except I learned dios is an alcoholic and Gio is still rich. I wish them good luck on their trip, and hopefully they will come back with some good surprises for all of us.
The next item on the agenda was the inevitable arrival of huge amounts of newcomers. I rather like the idea of the staff hanging out in the N/B/L fourm. They should be the first members new visitors meet. It will give them a good example of what is expected of them. There was only a small tad of anti-new sentiment that came from only a few people. I will not open that can of cobras, because frankly, I have elaborated my view on it so much, I am sick of talking about it. You can find my article about it in the archives, I think.
At this point, reid made the statement: “secret forums i won't worry about for now, but i will plow through them quite mercilessly when EB0 needs its own board”
On behalf of all those who value intelligent discussion, I would like to voice my hope that the Mu is not one of these. It serves a much more important purpose than many of the other secret fourms. No, I am not making this plea because I mod the place. You could take away my modship and I would still be there everyday.
It appears that PappyCat will be a mod of the N/B/L soon. Congratulations. I can’t think of anyone better suited for the job. Don’t let it get in the way of your article duties though. ;)
The financial state of the site was up next. Everything seemed fine, but then something happened that made me spill my Mountain Dew all over my new 3 Finger Frank’s Fireworks t-shirt. Wampa suggested a $5 donation fee for signing up. Didn’t really bother me at the time. However, later it was actually considered. I am adamantly against this suggestion. After seeing the abundance of IGN hate, I find it amusing that such a suggestion would even be made, let alone considered. What about those who can’t send money? Or even have money to send? I wouldn’t be surprised if this was just a way to discourage new visitors from joining. This was the only issue in the entire meeting that I really disagreed with.
On a lighter note, Wampa, dios, Falc, and guru are going to create a Mother1/2 walkthrough. I look forward to seeing the end result of that collaboration guys. Merchandise was discussed next. Nothing too exciting. Sadly, there will be no convention this year. I couldn’t go anyways, but I could have still read about it. =/
That was the meeting in a nutshell. It was interesting to see so many respected members of the community in one place. However, the highlight of the night for me was the fact that Luna was there. I’m not sure why, but I was very amused by that. I mean, what does she do anyways? ;)
