CHIP MATTHEWS, SMILING: Welcome to the 11:00 o'clock news. Our top story: There is a new craze sweeping kids today. It's more addictive than pokemon, and more deadly than sleeping. People are spending in excess of 4 hours a day on this hobby. No, I'm not talking about violent video games, I'm talking about the starmen.net forums. Tonight our guest is Arn J. Oct, a man who is struggling with this addiction.
*Arn Oct, a teenager around 14 years old, comes out and sits down.*
CHIP, SHOWING HIS PERFECTLY ALLIGNED TEETH: Arn, tell us a little about your addiction.
ARN: Well, it all started about 2 years ago. I was on the internet and I came to this site called "earthbound.net" I didn't think much of it at first, but I signed up on their forums. That has to be the day when I first got addicted.
CHIP, DROOLING: What happened after that?
ARN: Well, at first I just posted a bit. You know, just to get the hang of it. I would post maybe 2 or 3 times a day. Within a month I was posting around 10 times a day. Before I knew it I was spending all my free time on the forums.
CHIP, WITH HIS TEETH STUCK TO HIS LIPS: How much time do you spend on the forums a day?
ARN: On a good day around 6 hours. I've been known to stay on for as much as 8 though.
CHIP: Wow. Is that healthy?
ARN: Of course it is! The forums are a fun place where you can meet new people and have interesting conversations! The forums aren't a bad thing, just misunderstood. So go to the starmen.net forums or I'll do something I will regret!
CHIP: May I ask what?
ARN: I'm going to burp.
CHIP: Dear god, register on the forums!
