Operation D: Defense from the common lamer
Nothing provokes more anger in me than seeing a citizen of our community being browbeat for presenting a controversial idea or speaking his mind. Unless it was an attack or insult I see no reason for most of the nastiness on the forums. I call for a community wide shield from such lamers who believe it to be their job to make another citizens time here unpleasant for stating what he or she feels or believes.
Don't get me wrong I am thankful for all that is happening right now. I am pleased to see that baddies are being put in their place most of the time! I believe it is a just endeavor to stop unjust attacks on our fellow citizens. Most visitors are unaware that the question that they asked is "taboo" i.e. asking about badges, avatars, becoming a mod/staffer. Let me say that it is NOT your job as the general former to give them a dressing-down. Politely state what they did or quietly say nothing. In my opinion it's no ones job to bring someone else down.
Everyone deserves to have a pleasant experience here. A so-called "n00b" is no different. Remember that when you came here, you knew no different so show some courtesy. Would you have liked to get flamed for the same thing? I think not.
In most situations there are two positions to remedy a wrong. The old saying goes "A pound of cure is worth an ounce of caution". As most situations dictate prevention is by far the most effective way of dealing with a problem. This form of prevention can come from grooming the general citizen to know that such attacks are not warranted or welcome in the community.
Reid's regoodification banner said the same. I would like to see this followed on a wider scale. I will not name any names, you know who you are. Take this as an opportunity to change your ways. The community can easily get soured by 2 or 3 lamers I call for those 2 or 3 to be ousted. They have no right to ruin the atmosphere for the rest of us. I would like to state that I am greatful for the watchful eye of the general community. But is it wrong to want to make a good thing better?
