Mother on GBC: High Expectations?
We have all played the Earthbound Zero ROM and have enjoyed it very much (hopefully). I also assume that we have all signed the Mother on GBC petition, and if you haven't please do. But are we expecting too much from NOA?
There are only a few games that are being revived for the GBC. No matter how much we beg, there is only a 50/50 chance that Mother will be one of them. We are expecting a lot from NOA already with Earthbound 64 on the horizon. I am an avid Earthbound fan just like the rest of you, but we need to realize there is a slim chance that Mother won't come out on GBC. But we can always hope that it will. Here are some things we can expect if Mother does come out for GBC.
First, we can expect improved graphics. The graphics of EB0 were kind of sketchy and crude. Hopefully, NOA will improve these graphics and make the game even better than it is already. :) This will make all of us Earthbound fans happy.
Second, we can expect better play control and quick responses. Some computers can't run the EB0 ROM fast enough and it takes like 10 minutes for Ness to walk across a room. We need quick responses for this kind of game. The play control is good already, but it needs to use the A button to make choices. I have seen versions of EB0 that use the B button instead (Why?).
Third, we need great sound. With Nesticle the sounds have gaps and are very odd. With BioNES, it makes the music sound as if there are drums in the background. When NOA makes Mother for GBC, we need sound and music improvement so we can hear all of that great music in its true, original form.
Finally, we need better translation. Many of us have guessed that Giegue is a bad translation and that it is really Giygas. It seems to fit in with the story better if there is more effort to make a better translation.
These are just some of the things that we can expect if NOA releases Mother for GBC. And we can only wait until the day that it and Earthbound 64 finally arrive in stores near us.
