It was Different
The Truth should be told about a game called EarthBound; it was different. While many of us were busy pouring countless hours of our day playing games like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy, some others were discovering this new game from Japan. Some who happened to play it turned it away due to its unappealing look. I was among the ones who happened to rent the game, play it, and then fall in love with it. Years later, I finally bought EarthBound online through Ebay. I constantly mentioned it to my friend during the week I waited to get it. After it came, I told some of my other close friends about it, knowing that they probably would not care much about a five-year-old game. I ended up showing a few of them the game, thus each time resulting in a similar response of, “It’s kind of weird. Don’t you ever stop walking around aimlessly?” After continuously arguing that it was the best game ever made, I became used to the idea that I was alone in my obsession for EarthBound.
Through more time, I eventually found a couple of my friends who actually had played EarthBound and liked it. I was ecstatic when I found this out, because for me, it was a rare thing, exceedingly hard to come by. Also because I had previously imprinted the image of myself as the kid who always talked about this one game. Though I still may not openly preach EarthBound to anyone willing to listen, I still love it. To this day I still converse with my friends who like EarthBound about why we like it so much. Our conclusion?...Simply because It’s the best game ever made.
