When article time came around, I knew it was long overdue that I submit something. I have been just a forum person, with little interaction with the site. I had submitted to a funfest, and I think a few theories as well, but that was it. I knew it was time for me to write something that I became known for, not just a guy with a fairly high post count and this gold donor badge. Hence, this article happened.

I have read those four words at the beginning of forum registration at least…five or six times. Even though I may be well known to the community, I am not who I seem to be. Let me first begin by making an introduction. My name is Chad, I am 17 years old, and, despite the registration date on my forum profile, I have been coming here much longer than since May 15, 2005. In fact, I have been coming off-and-on since about, oh, the year 2000. My usernames have been plenty: MrChuckles (and a few variants of this), IceAgeSquirrel, InnocentKiller, and my most recent, ^demon. For those of you who do not know/remember, when I was MrChuckles, I was quite a different person. Perhaps it was more naiveté and less cynicism. I remember flaming CursedBurger for being gay, and just being stupid in general. I was banned on one occasion and made a new account. I also got locked out of a few due to password errors. After my MrChuckles/IceAgeSquirrel era, I left for some time. I returned probably about a year and a half or so later. This time I became InnocentKiller. I was a much better forum-goer by this time. However, I made a joke that ended up angering Reid, and he banned me (all I will say is, it involved Meeela, and the word sex0rz). I left the site, vowing to never come back again. Though, once again I found myself trying again. I thought that this time I would put all my previous idiot personalities behind me and just be myself. I tried it, and tried not to be too much of a jerk, and not to take things personally. Oddly enough, here I am, some 1800+ posts later. However, this story is merely a backdrop. Something kept bringing me back. I was not sure what it was, but it was there. There is something about Starmen.net, its forums in particular, which keep me, and other people, coming back. Perhaps it is a slight sense of elitism that we do carry, that whole, “We are not GameFAQ’s forums, because we do not suck” attitude is prevalent throughout the forums, and is not as annoying as elitism is so wonderfully known to be. I know part of it must be the people. I have come to know, even if only through their posts, such a wonderful handful of people that I may as well know in real life. Maybe part of it is knowing that you are a part of a group of people who are crazy enough to care about some mid-90’s offbeat RPG that never gained widespread attention. Like I have said, I do not quite know what it is that brings me back, but Starmen.net is one of my few homes on the ‘net, and I am proud to say I have left my name here. Along with 30,000+ others.
So there you have it. My story of my time here at good ol’ SM.Net. I know I’ve told some stuff that could cause a banning, and if that is what happens, then I accept it. I would like to say that stuff is behind me, but if the administration feels otherwise, then I will accept their punishment. But now you know. You know who I am, and why I seem to know so much more than someone with less than a year being registered should know, and why I seem to care enough to spend more than three hours daily trolli…er, browsing the forums. But I’m done ranting. You can give me my –1: Flamebait mod now.
