They probably exclaimed “How could such a run down hole in the wall (no pun intended) cost so much?!”. Well, there is a realistic explanation for this that deals with the logistics of realty.
Okay, okay. I’m not an expert on the business of home selling. I apologize if anything I say is inaccurate. I have learned some things over the years, which I feel apply to this situation, though. Even run-down housings can yield high asking prices. Let’s discuss the first factor, land value. A home in a mountainous area will cost more than a home in a busy urban location. The reason is land value. Homes are judged on the quality of the natural environment around them. The more trees, mountains, crystal clear ponds, and happy little squirrels, the more money that property will demand. Onett is a pretty small little settlement. It’s surrounded on three sides by dense forest and natural land mass. In addition to being located in such a massive natural environment, the seaside shack is located right next to the um, well, sea. This would also be a factor of land value. The shack does have an ocean view, after all. Don’t forget about the natural landmark Giant Step.
Another factor is location. Location, location, location! If a home is located next to a bunch of desired services such as malls, schools, hospitals, theatres, etc., then that will affect the price. The seaside shack isn’t even a mile away from the “downtown” of Onett. The urbanized part of Onett has an arcade, hotel, bakery, city hall, and hospital to name a few. In addition, all this is in relatively close proximity of each other. That would definitely have an effect on pricing.
Even though when you first buy the shack it’s run down, after all those adventures you collect a lot of cash, right. Ness could easily use the funds he received at the end of the game to totally renovate that shack and turn it into a home away from home.
