Ness in Super Smash Bros., Part 2

More Nesstrategies (Vs other Characters)

NOTE: As Ness, most of the time, enemies will throw items at you and not use them. NOTE2: These tactics were tested on Hyrule Castle. And so, names with a STAR will give you BIG TROUBLE on small stages (ie: DK, Kirby, and Pikachu's levels. Possibly Yoshi's.)

By the time you get Ness, this will all be common knowledge.

* VS LUIGI

Luigi is one of the hard characters to beat with Ness, as he is fast, and will most likely do one of the most annoying tricks in your life.

He toys with your PSI-Magnet. He shoots a fireball, and while you Psi Magnet it, he will move forward about 3 character spaces, throw another PSI Magnet, which you will probably didn't have to press down and B again for, and once again, he will move forward and fireball, and so on until he is close enough to run up and throw you while you PSI Magnet empty air.

The main idea is to avoid him, and pretty much go around him, and use items. Items are good. Falling off the platform is bad. He is one of the 4 characters that you will need to use Items to have a good chance of beating.

If he's a distance away, throw the weapon you have (preferably the beamsword), which would be stronger, faster, and more accurate than PK Thunder or Fire would be, and chances are, if he goes flying, you can run up to the Beamsword, and take it again to throw it at him when he aligns up for another toss.. >:P

He seems to know how to counter a few of the moves you can do, so that while you're doing them, he has an attack (the fireball thing) that will stop yours.

* VS MARIO

A slower and stronger Luigi clone. He's more agile. Items are a great asset, so get the Beamsword and Homerun bat when you can. That way, you have something to toss and catch him offguard with.

VS DONKEY KONG

Eeezy peezy. You can pretty much bash the heck outta him. Some tips are that you can hit the air above you (the push air from the last article I did), and never give him a chance. Don't let him get any items, because they can be a big nuisance when he gets them, and THROWS them.

VS LINK

Very easy. A hint would be to do many dash and A attacks, so he will get closer and closer to the edge. Link does not have a high triple- jump, so if you can easily keep hitting him, he can get off the edge far enough so he can't get back up! The trick is never giving him a chance to attack, but be careful when you try to return the attacks that lift you up into the air (and by that, I mean recovering in the air, pressing down, then press A when you are near him) because he can easily slash the air above him, and that will cause more problems.

VS SAMUS

Not too easy, but possible. Just dodge and use A. Samus will try to Charge Shot you in the air, and not the ground, so AVOID AVOID AVOID them. If it is coming at you, it will be so fast that you cannot pull off PSI-Magnet fast enough, so either Z/R or a down jump (or a double jump over it) will work. Avoid her jumps, the second she gets under you, she'll pull off a spin attack, pummeling Ness until it has added about 5 to 20to your percentage.

VS CAPTAIN FALCON

Fast, he's very fast. You can get in many attack though. He's constantly jumping, so PK Thunder from wherever you are will ALWAYS disconvenience him. Like Link, his triplejump is not too high and you can always get him by constantly dashing and pressing A. Be warned though, unlike others and their DOWN and A attacks they use in the air, Cappie Falcon uses a Falcon Kick, which will FRY you and then you'll be in DEEP TROUBLE. This is NOT MAGNETABLE.

Maybe a * VS NESS (himself)

Not much advice. 'He' is pretty slow, so you can use the UP and A attack (not the YO YO one..) pretty often without jumping. Beware of trying PK Fire (MAYBE Thunder) on him, because he will use Magnet.

VS YOSHI

BEWARE OF HIS FEET, he FREQUENTLY does jump, and an attack. DOWN and A will make his feet kick, which is like Samus's Spinattack, but from above, and not under; DOWN and B will make him do a quick drop, which is convenient for Star Exits, so WATCH yourself! The annoying thing he does a lot of the time is sucking you into an egg. Fiddle with the controller a bit, and you'll get out. That's about all he can do.. Annoy. Be careful for rare exceptions!

VS KIRBY

OH GOD! >_< The most cheap character IN this game. He can copy moves, toss you hard, jump REALLY high, practically come back to the platform EVERY Time, and can turn into stone... So, here's what you gotta do. You have to learn which trick to do for each of his.

1. ROCK Kirby will fly down and turn into a rock. If it's over you, try to dodge it, and when he's stoned ;) go to him, and throw him. He'll become back normal, and FLY off the edge! :)

2. Final Cutter Kirby will fly into the air and come back down. If you just miss KIRBY and NOT the projectile, you can possibly Magnet it.

3. Floating back onto platform Kirby will use his floating ability and try to get back onto the platform. SHOOT HIM DOWN with PK Thunder. DO it many times! If he gets back, use the bat (tap the direction and A at the same time) to slam him off the edge. Barrage him again. WARNING: Do NOT do this in the Kirby Team stage, if you do, while you're PK Thundering one, the other will get you.

VS FOX

Warning! FAST and CHEAP. You will have to pummel him with A attacks many times, while avoiding his cheap attacks. You MAY have enough time to Magnet his shots, but you'll need to see him prepare (ie: he will pull his gun out and move back slightly).

* VS PIKACHU

GOD how MANY TIMES this little bugger has got me... He's VERY VERY fast to do attacks and recover, and his down attacks, from the air, will nearly ALWAYS come before your UP attack. This is possibly the hardest character to beat on level 9 CPU. Items will come in handy, and the main overall strategy is to STAY AWAY from Pikachu, unless you want to be fried. An advantage of this is that his "Pikachu!"s (his 'Electrical attack') will take awhile to get to you, and give enough time for a PSI-Magnet. The positive of this also will be that he cannot move in like Luigi does, and you can sit there while he 'gives you another chance'.. :P

I suggest that you train in the VS mode, on Handicap 9 VS a L9 computer, because people know that they can't move during they use the 'Electrical attack', and they WILL NOT send many at you, especially after a PSI MAGNET experience.

Pikachu's Thunder attack will MOST DEFINETLY hurt Ness BADLY and send you flying! This is MOST DEFINETLY a reason to NOT JUMP OVER him or get near him when he's not busy!! Thunder is a REAL ANNOYING attack.

Good luck against Pikachu.. You will NEED it.

VS JIGGLYPUFF

AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! ^o^ Jigglypuff is a PUSHOVER if you attack it from above! So, simply put, just jump up in the air above it, jump down (press down in the air), and press A! Piece of cake! :)

Anyone

Pokéballs are hidden assets when your opponent uses them, such as the Koffing or Charizard ones, because most of the time, you can drop into them using Psi-Magnet and revive your life. :)

1P FIGHTS against non-normal characters.

VS Metal Mario

NEARLY the same tactic with Mario, but you have to do a TON of A attacks. Be very wary, as he can throw you VERY far off the edge, and getting back on the level is hard, as the bottom is jagged. Throwing him can be relatively helpful, although you will barely throw him at all. It will just add a few to the meter.

VS FIGHTING POLYGON TEAM (SideShowBob mumble) 30 of those *@#&!!!*& buggers. They also are like Kirby, but they really don't have the same B attacks, they pretty much have the same A attack as the people they copy. You can tell which one is Ness by when he jumps, the Psychic signs go along with it.

Well, anyways, these guys are REAL pushovers, because all you have to do is throw each one. BE CAREFUL though, because it is QUITE easy for one to sneak up on ya, although this is a much more convenient way to do it. Who cares if you get Cheap Shot -99? :)

VS Master Hand (SideShowBob mumble)

He's difficult with Ness. Ness has no VERY hard attacks like a few others (ie: Pikachu's thunder, Mario/Luigi's Cyclone, Yoshi and Kirby's downward attacks.)

You'd have to get a lot of "UP-&-A-at-the-same-time" attacks (aka: the Yo yo goes over your head) under him, because that's as strong as a bat hit.

When he holds his hands like a gun, he's about to shoot "Big Bill"s at you (the bullets from Mario), which you can PSI Magnet! Hurray! But you'll have to be on the defensive a bit, as Ness is an easy pushover to Master Hand's strong attacks.

I hope this helped, and may give you a few ideas for fighting these characters... This is just how I do it. There are MORE ways to beat them. :)
