The Meteor: Flaming Rock, or Something More...?
It's late at night, and you're spying on a little boy sleeping. You hear a tremendous crashing noise, and go up to the highest point of the Onett hillside. There, you find something intriguing; a meteor! (Apparently, it's quite magical, as it leaves no skidmark or huge crater, but whatever.) A talking bee later emerges from this space rock, saying he's from 10 years in the future. This really IS a magical hunk of galactic debris! Or is it... something more?
It's clear that this is no ordinary meteor. It housed a talking psychic bee and is from the future. This meteor must be a type of time machine. But what kind of time machine could this possibly be? As we all know, time travel in the world of EarthBound has bad effects on living creatures. It turns Pokey a nasty shade of blue, and it would have killed Ness and his friends if they weren't transferred into robots. And why would it need to launch into and come crashing down from space? Maybe it's some alien technology? Pokey managed to survive his little trip, and since the bulk of his mech had to have come from an outside source (Giygas, probably), it's likely this is true. However, this... machine is from the future. It could just be an advanced version of Earth technology. And only one person actually made a working time machine...
The Phase Distorter. The first working time machine (well, except for Pokey's spider mech, but meh). Could this meteor be an advanced version of it? It did have Zexonite, which was used to make the Phase Distorter (this also creates one of those paradox thingies. Neato.), and Buzz Buzz did say he was from Earth. But why the meteor farce? To stay undercover and avoid catching the attention of Giygas and his forces. But why a bee? Buzz Buzz says he's not a bee, and from in-game dialogue this seems true. So why is he a bee? This must be left for another time, you greedy busybodies. Until then, adieu!
And stop stalking those small children. It's really creepy.
