My Interactive Fiction Experience
Back when this place was still earthbound.net I went by the name EB101. I didn't post very much, so not very many people knew me. When the whole starmen.net and moonside.net thing started I lost my name and just sort of disappeared. When the site settled as starmen.net and didn't change I came back near December. I started posting on every subject except the Earthbound 64 Discussion and Interactive Fiction. But then, one day, I was bored and decided to read some Interactive Fictions. I then started to become addicted to the section, spending many hours on a certain subject called "Duel" by SimonBob. Then it all became clear to me, SimonBob was my Interactive Fiction God! I then wrote up my own thread called "War With Wizmo."I had twenty-four replies to the topic and was checking up on it every five minutes. I was the happiest guy in the world, but then, sadly, my wonderful Interactive Fiction topic was locked!
Anthadd had locked it, and at first, I was just shocked! I thought, "Oh no! My wonderful Interactive Fiction topic is locked!" I refused to believe it! My Interactive Fiction topic could not be locked! Then I started to accept it. This is what Anthadd's post read, "Then Anthadd comes and locks the thread because it is not related to Earthbound at all!" I reread the rules and found no problem about it not being related and emailed Anthad, saying, "Hi Anthadd, about the topic of mine you just locked. I just reread all of the rules and noticed that it didn't say any of the topics had to be related to Earthbound. So why did you lock my topic? It was my first Interactive Fiction topic that I actually got a reply off of! So can you tell me where it says the topics have to be related to Earthbound?" I then reread the rules one more time and found I had missed a section! I read the section and noticed it did have to be related to Earthbound! I then, quick as I could, e-mailed him back saying this, "I just found I missed a section, and I guess it does have to be Earthbound related! Sorry Anthadd! Well since my topic was going so well, do you think you could reopen it and I will add Earthbound stuff ok? Could you please do that? I will add an Earthbound character, enemy, or even a city like Scarabia we can battle in. So could you please reopen my topic because I don't think I can make one as it good as that ever again. I will refer to Earthbound every chance if you reopen it! Please think hard, good bye!"
Yes, bash me all you want. I know it was stupid! I then rewrote the thread and posted it calling it, "War With Wizmo 2." All I got was lamers, lamers, and more lamers! I decided to delete the topic one more time and restart. I called the new one, "War With Wizmo 3 NO LAMERS!" Lol, ya, I asked for it. I got some very rude comments from, well, I guess I won't mention any names. I then gave up and looked at the General Discussion forum. At this time I was already writing this article, so when I read the topic "Something I really, really hate." I was very, very offended. The article read, "Ok, I decided to read the articles because I was pretty bored, and what's with all the attempted humour? They aren't even funny! I don't want to give any names, but then again, it's pretty obvious which ones are attempts at being funny. That brings me to my point. Don't you just hate people that think they are funny?" I was so offended I was going to scream. I then posted my thoughts and left to finish this article.
